The Green Bay Packers seemed to be focused on drafting only defensive players this year in the 2012 NFL Draft, as they picked up yet another defensive lineman in Iowa defensive tackle Mike Daniels with the 132 overall pick.
Daniels was projected to go as early as the third round but stands only 6’0 290 pounds, which is probably what caused him to slide down to the Packers in the latter stages of the fourth round. Yet, even though he is not the biggest defensive tackle, he will fit well in Dom Capers’ 3-4 defense and may even get some time on run downs and in sub packages as an interior pass rusher.
Daniels is another solid selection by Packers general manager Ted Thompson as he keeps trying to rebuild a defense that set records for futility in 2011.
