The Kansas City Cheifs have signed free agent safety Abram Elam to provide depth behind Eric Berry, who is coming back from a devastating knee He sustained in the 1st game of last season. This is according to a report by Yahoo Sports.
Elam will be entering his seventh season in the league after spending last year with the Cowboys. He’s also played for the Jets and the Browns, starting 64 of the 92 games he’s appeared in with 365 tackles, five sacks and three interceptions.
The Chiefs have been really thin at safety during offseason workouts and needed to add some depth in case Berry reinjures his knee.
Berry has been held out while recovering from a torn left ACL.Fellow starter Kendrick Lewis has been out after undergoing offseason shoulder surgery and is unsure if he’ll be ready for the start of camp.
