David Garrard is getting first-team reps at QB for the Dolphins.
There was a very interesting development today in Miami as the Dolphins were giving quarterback David Garrard the first-team reps in their organized team activities according to a report by NFL.com.
At this point, it is way too early to jump to conclusions on the decision to give Garrard first-team reps. Dolphins head coach Joe Philbin has said there will be a quarterback competition and he may just be trying to Garrard and equal opportunity to compete against Matt Moore, who ended last season as the starter and rookie first-round draft pick Ryan Tannehill, who was select ninth overall by Miami out of Texas A&M.
Garrard was signed by the Dolphins this offseason after being released prior to the start of the 2011 season by the Jacksonville Jaguars, where he had played his entire career there before this season.
In nine NFL seasons, Garrad has started 76 games, posting a 39-37 record as a starter. He has a career completion percentage of 61.6 percent and passer rating of 85.8. He also thrown for 16,003 yards to go along with 89 career touchdown passes and 54 interceptions and also has 1,746 career rushing yards as well as 17 rushing touchdowns.
