Following some late-May criticism about being overweight, New York Giants tight end Martellus Bennett told the media he’s a lot closer to being Atlas than Professor Klump. Still, at 291 lbs., there has been a growing concern over Bennett’s conditioning and workout habits. And despite several Instagram pictures that appear to show Bennett in incredible shape, the talk about his weight has not subsided. Now, in an effort to finally put the chatter to rest, Bennett teamed up with NOC and Velocity Sports Performance to produce a training video that depicts his workout habits and proves that his weight is a non-issue.
“I’ve been criticized pretty much all my life. The perception of me is that I don’t work hard, but I bust my ass every day,” Bennett said in the video. “Get used to seeing #89 do great things.”
Throughout the video, Bennett can be seen taking part in a variety of workouts that appear to be extremely intense. Moreover, he looks to be in tremendous shape and anything but overweight.
“Everything goes back to being on the field at some point,” he said. “There’s no wrong way to eat a Reese’s Pieces and there’s no wrong way to workout.”
