The San Diego Chargers released QB Kevin O’Connell from the team.
O’Connell is a San Diego native that hoped to make it as a third string QB on this team. With the return of Charlie Whitehurst to the practice field and the recent success of Jarrett Lee, O’Connell’s services will no longer be needed in San Diego.
Jarrett Lee looks like he will earn his roster spot in the third QB slot after all. (Unless the Bolts still turn to free agency and aquire a veteran.)
O’Connell was signed July 30th and did no play in San Diego’s pre season opener.
He previously has played for the Jets and Patriots and was hoping to start fresh in San Diego.
Best of luck to O’Connell as he finds his new home.
