See how far Maurice Jones-Drew fell in our 2012 Fantasy PPR RB Rankings.
Out of all the positions that we are ranking here at FantasyPPR.com, there is no question that ranking the running backs has been the hardest. No other position has as many question marks early on then at running back thanks to injuries and holdouts (Cough, cough Ryan Matthews and Maurice Jones-Drew).
It also doesn’t help that the consensus best running back in the National Football League, Adrian Peterson is coming off a serious knee injury and may not be his old dominant self until the 2013 season.
Thus, ranking running backs this season was no easy task.
One thing I will say is that by nature and from experience when I am selecting early on in drafts, I like to be safe because a blown top pick can be costly to your fantasy team. Plus, I learned my lesson from Chris Johnson last year.
In my eyes, Jones-Drew has become the Johnson of this season because of his lengthy contract holdout. In my rankings he has dropped all the way from no.4 to no.9 but to be honest I probably would not draft him this season. I know he is coming off the board much later now, so he’s a great value but last season I got Johnson in round two and trust me it was far from a steal.
So keep in mind when scanning through the rankings that players, who are reliable and have less risk tended to move up. Without further here are the rankings:
