I love Gronk this week as a fantasy option even with the injury concerns.
Week five in the National Football League is underway and I want to apologize for slacking a bit on my tight end rankings for the week but let’s be honest, there was nothing to get really excited about in the Rams – Cardinals matchup, I mean Lance Kendricks did score a touchdown but come on let’s be honest, if you are playing Kendricks, you are desperate.
Now with that being said, there are some very juicy tight end matchups entering week five. Of course three of the guys you HAVE to play every week and you don’t need to be a fantasy football expert to know that Rob Gronkowski, Jimmy Graham and Vernon Davis should be in your lineup each and every week. But this week especially, I could see all three going off for some major points, particularly in point per reception formats.
Gronk has a great matchup against the Broncos. Denver has strong corners in Champ Bailey and Tracy Porter but are weak in the middle at linebacker and not to great at safety either. Regardless of whether they cover him with inside linebackers or safety Mike Adams, Gronk, Brady and Belichick have to be licking their chops.
Graham is also the kind of player that is a must start regardless of matchup because there are very few teams in the league that can match up with him. The Chargers defense has been up and down thus far this season but with Saints receiver Lance Moore on the bench, Graham is going to get a lot of targets and I’d be stunned if he fails to catch at least one touchdown.
We all know what Gronk did to the Bills this week so as long as Jim Harbaugh (who is the only person in the NFL who can slow down Davis, hint, hint, throw him the damn ball more Jim!!!!) cooperates and gives VD the targets he needs, he will have a HUGE day against the Bills extremely shaky defense.
Don’t be surprised to see Heath Miller find the end zone again this week. It is starting to appear that Big Ben is serious about getting the long-time veteran to his first pro bowl. I also really like Brent Celek this week, who is becoming a key cog in the Eagles passing attack. Also expect Packers tight end Jermichael Finley to find the end zone, the Colts defense gives up tons of passing yards and to be honest I just have a gut feeling (which is not totally to be trusted).
Well that’s all for this week’s tight end breakdown but if you have any questions hit me up on twitter @ThePPRExperts, help me help you win your league!! If I give you bad advice I swear I will allow you to ridicule me shamelessly with restraint. Any without further ado here are the week 5 Fantasy PPR tight end rankings:
