Trent Richardson Traded to the Colts, Fantasy Football Analysis

.
It’s rare that an NFL trade goes down during the season. It’s even more rare for a first round pick to be traded just 18 games, 17 of which he’s played, into his career.
.
While it’s true that Trent Richardson has a 3.5 yards per carry average in those 17 games for the Cleveland Browns, one can’t be unhappy with 1,473 total yards and 12 touchdowns.
.
When you consider the quarterback play that he has received, it’s a miracle that he has done even that well.
.
Things just got a whole lot better for Trent.
.
He’s going to an NFL team that has replaced a legend, Peyton Manning, without barely missing a beat. They had one down year before Andrew Luck led them back.
.
Now they add a talented back that can do it all. He can run, despite the low ypc. He has 58 career receptions already, which is good for 3.4 receptions per game. He can pass protect. Did I mention that he’s just 22?
.
Despite the presence of Luck, this team can run the football. They enter Week 3 ranked fifth in rushing offense with 260 yards per game. They have gained 5.0 yards per carry.
.
All offseason we heard that they want to run the football under Pep Hamilton. Vick Ballard went down, leaving Ahmad Bradshaw to be the feature back. Consider this a major upgrade.
.
If you own Trent Richardson, you couldn’t have received better news today. Of course, those of you that have him in keeper or dynasty leagues have even more to be happy about.
.
I like Richardson in Cleveland. I just worried about the lack of talent bringing him down. That is no longer the case in his new home. Defense can’t afford to key in on him as they have Andrew Luck, Reggie Wayne, T.Y. Hilton and Coby Fleener to deal with in the passing game.
